Idea Idea for laser visualisation

An untested idea here, I will update on it's efficacy.
The use of an aerosol to show laser light paths has been known for some time. I found that hairspray worked reasonably well. an alternative that is much better is a smoke machine. But this may trigger your optical fire alarms!
Anyway, I was watching a YouTube video showing the innards of a smoke machine when a different source suggested itself (
"Big Clive" does some interesting videos!) The spray in question is one that is used for clearing rooms of smoke and odours.

Spray looks good but horribly expensive and I'm not sure I'd trust teachers' restraint circuits to be enabled. Watch out as some cans are 8oz and some are 0.8oz!
Currently I can't find a similar alternative - most are alcohol and stinky stuff based.
For value I think the CPC smoke generator wins. Again, restraint may be an issue but in this case for being able to see across the room!

I remember the days of a chalk board duster being bashed against a metre stick and it worked great!
