What is Karma (17 Oct 2019)

Karma is one way to say "thank you" to a poster that was of particular good help to you on your posted question or problem. It's OPTIONAL and avoids cluttering up forum posts with many "Thank you's". You can also personally Thank the poster and show that they have helped you by clicking on "Thank you". The higher your karma value and the number of "Thank you's" is a fun measure of your value and status about TecHKnow. You can increase (or decrease) a persons' Karam by clicking on the "more" icon just below their user Picture/Avatar

Question Exciting news about sellotape dispensers

6 months 2 weeks ago #41321 by Cookaburra
I am so excited that I have to tell someone! The black bits in our glue sticks that hold the glue and are exposed when the glue stick is finished, fit in the wheel of our sellotape dispensers when the kids or teachers have lost the spindle bit that is there so that the smaller sellotape rolls will fit. All you then need is an appropriately sized screw or nail and the dispenser is mended. Best thing to have happened this year!

Here are some pics of the contraption. Which will probably not work as I am rubbish at this sort of thing!

Hardly fantastic. I just get really fed up when I give teachers new stuff only to have them break it just days later. You can buy the middle bits separately but they cost more than the whole thing!

Or you can use a single hole bung and a piece of a wooden dowel.
I've been fixing it this way for years :D

I have also used bungs, but cookaburra’s gluestick base is 100% free! I will be saving bases from now on...

I too have used bungs, but this time I just looked at the bit in the gluestick and thought what can I use that for? Same way as I have a load of actimel bottles waiting for a use.

Do we have a thread on 'Everyday items adapted for use in Science Department' :D?
I can contribute: Pentel glue refill bottles make great distilled water bottles
