Question Teaching Physics podcast

A few weeks ago the two guys from the.physicsteachingpodcast.com/ came to my school for a discussion on Physics teaching. Their conversation included a large portion on technician support. This made its way into their podcast.
The podcast can be accessed here: https://the.physicsteachingpodcast.com/2019/04/04/22-technicians-and-teacher-talk/
One of the ideas discussed later was the foil speaker. Note the use of an amplifier was left out of the discussion. See wiki article www.techknow.org.uk/wiki/index.php?title=Foil_speaker

Thoroughly enjoyed that.

I have to say the conduction of glass video was probably the most dangerous and somewhat pointless thing I've seen in a long time. I must make a video of how to do it relatively safely using the mains and the old CLEAPSS equipment ... It's not the currently recommended method but if takes the experiment to completion whereas the low voltage CLEAPSS approved version doesn't.

Oh, and the foil speaker works surprisingly well even with cheap magdur type ferrite magnets in a yoke :-)

We don't have a major magnet, but I've glued small neodymium magnets to a U shaped holder - from the motor kit - and the foil speaker works well.
