JISCMail Scitech L is the successor to the very popular UCLAN Scitech-l which the Science and technology community have been using since 1990. In fact the two names are one and the same thing! This is because UCLAN Scitech-l moved house to the JISCMail servers during 2010.
What is Scitech-l
Put simply, Scitech-l is an environment were technicians can network with each other for the purposes of disseminating and communicating Information, help & best practice to aid the technician do his or her nine to five job. As a professional environment, you can expect that it is moderated strictly. This task is admirably carried out by Rob and Maz Copeland.
Scitech-L is hosted by the JISCMail server and all mail sent to the server is archived. Scitech archives stretch back over several years and include tens of thousands of questions and answers
You can both view the archives and set your own settings for mail delivery etc by logging on to the jiscmail service using a password that you will first have to generate
For security the Jiscmail Scitech Web Interface is password protected. Each individual user is able to generate their own passowrd.
